Meet Jay, The Creator of The Japan Life Blueprint
Jay is the founder of Japan Life Blueprint.
Jay is an American Digital Marketer with a passion for travel and has been living in Japan for the past two years. He was born in September 25th, 1996, raised in the United States by Filipino parents. he spent most of his childhood in California and his young adult years in Nevada, but wanted a change and had a desire to see the world.
Experience in the U.S. Navy
Jay then began his career enlisted in the United States Navy as an Electrician. During his service, he visited eight different countries while deployed, which sparked his passion for international travel. Out of all the places Jay has visited, Japan stood out the most, and Jay fell in love with the country’s culture, language, music, lifestyle, and many things about it.
Discovery For His Passion
In 2020, during the final months of his service, Jay began self-studying Japanese during his free time while at sea. After leaving the Navy, he continued studying throughout the COVID-19 lockdowns, and used the time he had to immerse himself in the language via YouTube and Netflix videos, and changing all his devices in Japanese. Jay then decided to plan to live in Japan after his service. Alongside language study, he spent hours researching how to live a happy and stable life in Japan.
Journey to Japan
In 2022, Jay attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where he befriended several Japanese study-abroad students, implementing his years of immersion, and spoke Japanese almost daily. He eventually got the hang of spoken Japanese and reached a conversational level. In 2024, he transferred to Temple University Japan Campus to fully commit to life in Japan.
As his passion for Japanese and culture continued to grow, Jay’s Japanese skills developed even further, and also began learning SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and basic website development. He launched Japan Life Blueprint, a free site with the goal to help others who share the same dream of living in Japan.
